Vaginitis & Yeast Infections
Danger
- Vaginitis has been associated with problems for pregnant women and women with AIDS
How common is it?
- Most women will have some kind of vaginitis at least once in their life
Symptoms
- Grayish or yellowish odorous vaginal discharge
- Mild itching or burning sensation
Transmission
- Only affects women, but men can pass it from woman to woman
- Can be sexually transmitted
- Can be caused from taking antibiotics, wearing tight pants, or douching (Washing your genitals with water)
Treatment
- Oral medication or vaginal creams
- Male partner does not usually need to be treated
